Weaving Curves
Back with the ondulé, or fan reed. I don’t use it very often as I have to lean forward and it is hard on my back. I take a break every 30 minutes or so, especially when weaving curves.
The reed has to be raised (or lowered) consistently to create the curves. So I’ve created a system that works for me, but all looms are different and each weaver will have their own solution.
This video is speeded up a bit but you get the idea.
To create the colour I wound seven warps and layer them side by side, but staggered by two inches. It seems to have worked. I like to use plain weave with the ondulé reed. It keeps the focus on the curves and, in this case, on the colours.
